How We Do It
How We Do It
Our approach combines evidence-based, highly effective strategies with a supportive, empowering environment to address the risks associated with premarital sex and promote sexual health. At the heart of The Girls’ Room is a comprehensive, gender-specific sexual education curriculum using Safer Choices Levels 1 and 2, delivered over a 26-week cycle with weekly sessions every Tuesday from 3PM to 5 PM.
Inspired by the candid, real conversations young women often have in safe spaces, our curriculum fosters open dialogue led by our “Big Sister”— a dedicated mentor who empowers participants to make informed, healthy choices every day.
Each participant receives personalized 1-on-1 mentoring tailored to her unique needs. Our mentors are experienced women who guide girls through understanding their bodies, navigating relationships, and embracing their journey through womanhood. Through assignments, team-building activities, and creative projects, participants develop vital life skills, emotional resilience, and leadership.
A key element of our program is the REACH Project—a hands-on leadership experience where peer educators join focused groups to design interactive community activities, create media projects, and represent The Girls’ Room at local events. This engagement deepens learning, builds confidence, and amplifies youth voices.
Mentors remain steadfast companions throughout high school and beyond, providing ongoing support and coaching. Alongside a safe haven environment and strong community partnerships, The Girls’ Room offers a dynamic space for growth, empowerment, and lifelong readiness.
Earn Your Community Peer Health Educator Certification
At The Girls’ Room Las Vegas, we prepare participants to become confident, knowledgeable peer educators who can lead and support their peers in making healthy, informed decisions. Our program includes 52 hours of comprehensive sexual health education using the Safer Choices curriculum, delivered over 26 weeks. To become a certified peer educator, participants also complete an additional 8–12 hours of specialized training focused on leadership, communication, and facilitation skills. This brings the total training requirement to approximately 60 hours, ensuring that our peer educators are equipped not only with accurate information but also with the skills needed to effectively mentor and educate others in their community.

The R.E.A.C.H Project
As part of their training, peer educators become active leaders in the R.E.A.C.H: Real Education and Access for Community Health Project. The name REACH reflects the program's mission not only to educate within the organization but also to extend its impact outward, reaching into the broader community with accessible, youth-driven sexual health education.
Through R.E.A.C.H, peer educators become ambassadors of The Girls’ Room, representing the organization at public events and beyond. The project empowers youth to inform, engage, and inspire their peers and community members, creating ripple effects of awareness and positive change.

Community Partners
Building strong connections is essential to The Girls’ Room. We have partnered with influential women from our communities to join us weekly to bring their diverse lived experiences.
Additionally, every month, we invite aligned guests to speak and share their resources. These guests are related to our cause and can provide assistance to our young mothers.
Why Us?
The Girls’ Room was inspired by the real, unfiltered conversations that happen in the girls' bathroom where truth, vulnerability, and connection naturally emerge. We’ve transformed that spirit into a structured, supportive space for healing, learning, and transformation.
After completing the program, each participant emerges with:
A deeper sense of self-worth and agency
Practical tools to navigate sexual health and relationships
A lifelong sisterhood
The readiness to step into womanhood with confidence and clarity
Our comprehensive curriculum goes far beyond sexual education. Topics include:
Dating violence prevention and resisting sexual coercion
Self-defense and mental health awareness
Academic and career exploration
Identity, self-worth, and emotional well-being
